Slice, Shred & More

on

It’s time again to feature another great kitchen appliance that is quintessential to every kitchen and makes food prep both easy and fun. This time I decided to highlight the first appliance that I purchased: Cuisinart’s Food Processor. I bought it for my 21st birthday and am pretty sure that I ate hash browns every day for breakfast for about a month and a half. This device is so helpful in the kitchen that it was featured on the Martha Stewart Show as one of Martha’s Essential Kitchen Tools.

Cuisinart Food Processor

The Cuisinart Food Processor comes in a variety of sizes. I purchased the 7-cup and it has been a great investment, but I think the 11-cup would be ideal. The powerful motor can slice, shred and emulsify anything with ease. Best of all, the parts are fully dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. The food processor comes with a variety of attachments that are perfect for any task. The plastic dough blade is great for making pasta dough. The stainless steel blade will puree anything from fresh pesto or hummus to perfect pie dough or even fresh peanut butter. The shredder disc makes shredding cheese, carrots or potatoes for hash browns a breeze and the slicing disc is also great for slicing potatoes or onions. The controls have a pulsing option, which allows you to not overwork a pâte brisée for a perfectly flaky pie crust, or can be left on for those jobs that require a little more time, such as hummus. The extra wide feed tube is great for larger potatoes, tomatoes or bell peppers. Finally, both covers have a small hole that is perfect for slowly pouring in oil to pesto without the splatter.

The food processor’s MSRP of $99.95 is reasonable for such a powerhouse in the kitchen and as usual prices typically go down around the holidays. Once you buy the Cuisinart Food Processor, slicing and shredding will never be the same.
