Decorations

Decorations are going to be vital to the party’s overall vibe. You might not want people to be scared, but it still should feel a bit spooky as it is Halloween. There are many stores and online shops where you can purchase great Halloween decorations like witches that you can hang from doors. You can attach sheets to wires hanging from the ceiling to make it feel like ghosts are flying around the room. If you happen to have a projector, this is also a great way to create a spooky feel by projecting images of ghosts onto walls or sheets hung from the ceiling.

Don’t forget to decorate your party food table in the same way. There are lots of treats that you can get in shops that would be perfect for a Halloween party. These can include eyeball marshmallows, candy maggots, and little pumpkin cakes. By doing this, you will make the food that you are offering fit with the occasion, which can provide some inspiration for creating your own treats and beverages. I have always found great inspiration in some of the ideas on Martha Stewart’s website. Some of them may seem a bit pricey, but I think they also serve as a great place to start when coming up with your own affordable DIYs.

Costumes

Obviously, costumes are a must. There are so many different things and people that you can dress up as at this time of year that you wouldn’t be able to do at other times. You can do a group theme with your friends, dressing up the same or each as a member of a character from a movie, TV show or superhero squad. These are the real #SquadGoals that everyone will be talking about into November. Or, you might want to do something with your partner. There are lots of couples Halloween costume ideas online, and you might have already found the one that is perfect for you two. If you haven’t, you can shop around online to find the perfect matching costumes. I would encourage some very cheesy food-themed paired costumes such as salt and pepper, PB&J, or bread and butter.

Theme It Up

We know that the theme is going to be Halloween. But, you can always have an awesome theme like Salem, Dracula, or even something like your favorite season of American Horror Story. These will make for an awesome party if you can pull it off. For example with the Salem theme, you could have fake witches tied to wooden poles scattered around for decorations and have red punch as the witches blood. You can also make witches brooms out of chocolate treats and have chocolate cauldrons on your table.

Or, you can simply have a night of the walking monsters theme. This will mean everyone will have to be some sort of monster and your party will be full of spooky looking monsters in fiction. Think of it like a grown-up Monsters Inc. party. Make sure that all of your food fits in with your theme, don’t be generic and leave this part out. Don’t forget, your options are not limited to vampires and werewolves on Halloween, you can go for evil comic book characters or Disney villains. Anything scary or evil will do.

Hopefully you find these ideas exciting and spooky and will consider them when you are throwing your next howling Halloween party.
